Cross-layer design for topology control and routing in MANETs

چکیده
A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a self-organized and adaptive wireless network formed by dynamically gathering mobile nodes. Since the topology of the network is constantly changing, the issue of routing packets and energy conservation become challenging tasks. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer design that jointly considers routing and topology control taking mobility and interference into account for MANETs. We called the proposed protocol as Mobility-aware Routing and Interference-aware Topology control (MRIT) protocol. The main objective of the proposed protocol is to increase the network lifetime, reduce energy consumption, and find stable end-to-end routes for MANETs.We evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol by comprehensively simulating a set of random MANET environments. The results show that the proposed protocol reduces energy consumption rate, end-to-end delay, interference while preserving throughput and network connectivity. These networks have been created to communicate between vehicles and traffic control on the roads. have similar features to MANETs and their main special property is the high-speed node mobility which makes a quick change of the network. The rapid change of network topology is a major challenge in routing. One of the we...

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Cognitive radio (CR) technology will have significant impacts on upper layer performance in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). In this paper, we study topology control and routing in CR-MANETs. We propose a distributed Prediction-based Cognitive Topology Control (PCTC) scheme to provision cognition capability to routing in CR-MANETs. PCTC is a midware-like cross-layer module residing between CR m...

Cooperative communications can significantly enhance transmission reliability and bandwidth efficiency in wireless networks. However, the impact of cooperative communications on network-level upper layer issues, such as topology control, routing and network capacity, is largely ignored. At the same time, security is an important issue in MANETs and existing security schemes have significant imp...

Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) by contrast of other networks have more vulnerability because of having nature properties such as dynamic topology and no infrastructure. Therefore, a considerable challenge for these networks, is a method expansion that to be able to specify anomalies with high accuracy at network dynamic topology alternation. In this paper, two methods proposed for dynamic anom...
